Meliá Hotels International, a leading hotel company in Spain with a renowned experience in holiday tourism, has announced the addition of a new hotel in the Dolomites, reinforcing its position in one of the most renowned alpine regions in Europe.

The future Affiliated by Meliá Pozza di Fassa will operate under a franchise model and will become the company's second property in this location, in line with its expansion strategy in high-potential destinations. This project also marks the company's second collaboration with Gruppo Stay, a company with extensive experience in hotel management in northern Italy. As a result of this partnership, the company will debut in the Dolomites next May with the opening of the Hotel Auronzo Dolomites Affiliated by Meliá.

Located in the heart of Val di Fassa, the hotel will feature 61 rooms and will undergo a repositioning to upgrade its rating from 3 to 4 stars. Affiliated by Meliá Pozza di Fassa, it will offer an all-day dining restaurant, lobby bar, and piano bar, designed for both hotel guests and locals, enhancing the après-ski experience. In addition, its facilities will include a spa, gym, and parking, catering to the needs of active guests interested in nature tourism.

Surrounded by a stunning natural environment and boasting breathtaking views, the hotel stands out for its proximity to the Val di Fassa ski resort, one of the most important in the Dolomites, with over 170 kilometers of slopes and 77 ski lifts. Beyond the winter season, the region offers a robust tourism offering year-round, establishing itself as one of Europe's leading destinations for hiking and active tourism. Some of the Dolomites' most iconic landmarks, such as the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, Seceda, and the lakes of Braies and Carezza, as well as renowned long-distance routes like the Alta Via trails, are easily accessible from the hotel, attracting international travelers throughout the year. Furthermore, its location, approximately a two-hour drive from Venice, enhances its appeal as an international destination.

“The Dolomites are one of Europe’s most spectacular destinations and perfectly represent the kind of places where we want to continue growing, where nature and hotel excellence combine to offer unique experiences,” said Gabriel Escarrer, Chairman and CEO of Meliá Hotels International. “Furthermore, it is a privilege to do so alongside Gruppo Stay, whose experience in the destination and shared vision allow us to create synergies and move forward with a solid project for the region.”

As Andrea Franceschi, founder and owner of Gruppo Stay, explains: “This is the second project we are developing with Meliá Hotels International, following the Hotel Auronzo in Cadore, which is scheduled for completion next May. For us, it represents a strategic milestone and recognition of the path we have forged since our founding in 2014. Partnering with such a strong international brand helps to reinforce the value and positioning of the assets we manage. The Hotel Trento is already well established, and Val di Fassa remains one of the most attractive destinations for mountain tourism, both for Italian and international travelers. We are convinced that this step will contribute to the continued growth of our Group.”

With this new project, Italy consolidates its position as a strategic market for the growth of Meliá Hotels International, where the company continues to strengthen its presence with a portfolio of 10 hotels already in operation and a solid pipeline of 7 projects.
