Marriott International announced today that Federico Greppi officially assumed the role of President for the Caribbean and Latin America (CALA) on March 28. This appointment marks a significant event, as Greppi becomes the first Latin American to lead the CALA region for the company, succeeding Brian King, who is retiring after a distinguished 34-year career.
From his role as Chief Operations Officer for CALA, as well as in his previous roles as CFO and leader of Franchise Operations and Owner Relations in the region, Greppi's operational experience and financial strength have been key to driving expansion to more than 500 properties and strengthening sales. Recognized for his ability to combine global strategy with local dynamics, his leadership reinforces Marriott's commitment to regional growth, strategic alliances, and creating value for partners and owners in CALA.
Looking ahead, Greppi's plans place particular emphasis on South America, which achieved exceptional performance in 2025, exceeding 100 properties and accounting for nearly 40% of newly signed contracts. This result has allowed the company to diversify its portfolio of projects under development across all segments and provide sustained expansion to the southern part of the region.
“Our warm and talented people, our world-renowned destinations, our exceptional cuisine, and our rich cultural heritage make the Caribbean and Latin America a unique ecosystem for developing world-class hospitality,” said Federico Greppi. “Assuming a leadership position at CALA is both an honor and a great responsibility. It’s not just about continuing Marriott’s growth and leadership in the region, but also about driving new market opportunities, contributing to economic development, generating quality employment, and training the next generation of Latin talent in the hospitality industry. I have an extraordinary team, with whom we will work alongside our owners, partners, and industry leaders to maximize the growing demand for travel to the region, bring new brands and experiences to more destinations, and advance our sustainability goals, helping this extraordinary part of the world reach its full potential.”
For his part, Satya Anand, Group President for the United States, Canada, and CALA, spoke about the enthusiasm at Marriott Headquarters regarding this new phase for the company in CALA. “We are extremely pleased that Fede is assuming the role of President of CALA. I am fully convinced that, thanks to his deep knowledge of the region, his strategic focus, and his strong professional relationships, he has the ideal profile to lead Marriott CALA into its next stage of growth, further strengthening our presence, offering exceptional experiences to our guests, and supporting the success of our owners.”
With more than 550 properties across 26 Marriott Bonvoy brands, the company offers the broadest and most diverse hotel portfolio in the region and remains at the forefront of hospitality and innovation adapted to the individual contexts of each country.
