Introducing the ultimate family vacation hero: Royal Caribbean has unveiled Hero of the Seas, the fourth ship in the Icon Class and a bold evolution of family adventures, arriving in Miami in August 2027. As part of the revolutionary Icon Class, which combines beach retreats, resort getaways, and theme park adventures, Hero will raise the bar with more record-breaking and iconic ways for families to create unforgettable memories. Hero’s eight neighborhoods will feature the most pools at sea, a record 28 dining venues and cooking classes for all ages, new family waterslides, new ways to stay for multigenerational families – including the three-story Ultimate Family Treehouse – and more. Vacations on Hero will soon be available on the Royal Caribbean website, and Crown & Anchor Society loyalty program members can book starting Wednesday, April 1, ahead of the official opening on Thursday, April 2.

“Icon Class truly set a new standard for family vacations, and Hero of the Seas takes that vision even further,” said Michael Bayley, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean. “With more water, more adventure, and more options for all ages, we continue to create what our guests love about Royal Caribbean and deliver the experiences families most seek when vacationing together.”

More ways to have fun in the water

Vacationers can dive into nine different pools – the most at sea – including spaces for the whole family, a new Caribbean-inspired pool, three adults-only options, the largest swim-up bars at sea, and more.

Hero will unveil Coconut Cove, a new pool just steps from the tropical Caribbean bar, The Lime and Coconut. With in-water lounge chairs and poolside service for refreshing drinks, vacationers can relax overlooking the lush greenery of the Central Park neighborhood.

The adults-only oasis The Hideaway will feature two pools, including the largest swim-up bar at sea for tropical cocktails and an in-water DJ booth for a non-stop party atmosphere.

Familiar favorites will be refreshed with more space to splash and relax in the expanded Swim & Tonic pool and adult swim-up bar, plus new water attractions at Splashaway Bay, the water park designed for young children in the family-friendly Surfside neighborhood.

More adventure

The adventure will reach new heights on Hero of the Seas with more action-packed activities for the whole family to experience together.

At Category 6 – the largest water park at sea – adventurers can try two new family raft slides, including the first funnel-style raft slide at sea, plus new versions of the Storm Chasers inflatable race duo.

Vacationers can test their courage on Crown's Edge – part suspended walkway and part zip line almost 47 meters above the sea – or catch waves in the surf simulator

Families can enjoy friendly competitions on the Adrenaline Peak climbing wall, the Lost Dunes mini-golf course, and the sports courts for pickleball, basketball, soccer, and more.

More dining options

Hero offers family favorites across its fleet with 28 dining locations, bringing flavors from around the world and immersive table experiences.

The newest supper club experience, Orleans Parish Supper Club, is a multi-course dinner featuring live jazz, handcrafted cocktails, and gourmet Cajun and Creole dishes inspired by the early 20th-century elegance of the French Quarter.

Royal Railway – Hero Station will bring to life the most immersive dining experience at sea, transporting adventurous diners by train to new destinations through a combination of entertainment, food and technology.

Surfside's family-friendly neighborhood will offer hands-on cooking classes in a new space to be revealed later. Families of all ages can learn culinary skills together, from fun recipes for the little ones to more advanced courses focused on chopping and baking.

The AquaDome Market food hall will return with four new food concepts, plus desserts at Crème de la Crêpe and freshly squeezed juices and soft drinks at Simply Pressed.

The full range of dining options will also include perennial favorites like sushi at Izumi and the Izumi in the Park drive-thru; family-friendly dishes at Giovanni's Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar; premium cuts of meat at Chops Grille; and fresh seafood at Hooked Seafood. In addition, families can refuel throughout the day at all-inclusive grab-and-go spots like Basecamp for burgers and crispy potato balls, El Loco Fresh for Mexican dishes, and Sorrento's for pizza.

More accommodations for families

Hero will have more options than ever for families to stay in style and celebrate any occasion.

The Ultimate Family Treehouse is a dream come true for kids and the young at heart, with a three-story treehouse featuring a rooftop deck and hot tub, a two-level teen space, and two master bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and balcony.

Families can stay in specially designed rooms at the three-level Ultimate Family Townhouse with direct access to Surfside; Surfside Family Suites and Family Infinite Ocean View Balconies.

For upscale accommodations, vacationers can relax in style at the Royal Loft Suites and Icon Loft Suites, which offer spacious comfort with prime ocean views. Additionally, Interior Plus and Sunset Suites provide comfortable stays for vacationers resting up for their next big day of adventure.

Icon Class favorites will return at Hero, from the restaurants, bars, floor-to-ceiling ocean views of the neighborhood Royal Promenade, and the stunning Pearl—the world’s largest kinetic art sculpture—to open-air Central Park, lined with more than 30,500 royal plants, restaurants, and pickup windows for sushi, champagne, and more. Plus, bolder entertainment takes center stage with new productions at the Royal Theater, AquaTheater, and Absolute Zero—the largest ice rink at sea—along with live music venues day and night.

Hero will take vacationers on seven-night adventures through the Eastern and Western Caribbean from Miami, with each voyage visiting Royal Caribbean's most highly rated exclusive destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay in the Bahamas. Guests can choose between week-long Caribbean vacations touring Western Caribbean destinations such as Roatán, Honduras, and Cozumel and Costa Maya, Mexico, or exploring pristine waters in Eastern Caribbean destinations such as Philipsburg, St. Maarten, and Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas.

Vacations on Hero are now available to book on the Royal Caribbean website.
