Guanacaste Airport, a member of the VINCI Airports network, recorded its highest visitor count this Saturday, March 21, with 14,967 passengers passing through the terminal during their visit to Guanacaste.

According to statistics from the General Directorate of Migration and Foreign Affairs, 7,174 entries, 7,534 exits, and 259 passengers on domestic flights were recorded during this period. There were 60 commercial operations, of which 13 were domestic flights and 47 were international.

With this result, the first quarter of 2026 concentrates the three days with the highest passenger traffic in the history of Guanacaste Airport: March 21 with 14,967; March 14 with 14,936; and January 3 with 14,077.

Compared to 2015, the record day was December 27th with 13,815 passengers. Therefore, the new figure reflects an 8% increase over this previous record. This result demonstrates the strong performance of the high season in Guanacaste and confirms sustained growth in passenger arrivals to the destination.

As a result of the high tourist influx typical of this time of year, and the proximity to Holy Week, a period in which foreign and national visitation to the region increases, Guanacaste Airport recommends that passengers plan their departure further in advance to avoid road delays.

It is also recommended to complete your check-in process online or manage it yourself through airline kiosks.

Passengers should also make sure not to bring any prohibited items and follow the instructions of customer service staff in order to expedite security processes and ensure a more efficient experience in the coming weeks.

Passengers can also check their flight status directly with the airlines and consult the updated information from the official website: www.guanacasteairport.com.

Guanacaste Airport has direct routes to 26 destinations in the United States, Canada and Switzerland through 12 international carriers.

“We celebrate this record number of visitors, which confirms passengers' interest in Guanacaste as a destination. This result reflects a strong high season and demonstrates the high demand for the destination and the airport's capacity to respond to this growth. We thank the airport community for its commitment to providing a quality customer experience and service. Milestones like this motivate us to raise our standards for continued growth,” said César Jaramillo, General Manager of Guanacaste Airport.
