With less than 100 days until the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the city of Toronto is making progress in its preparations to welcome thousands of fans arriving from around the world to experience one of the most important sporting events on the international calendar. Although the opening match will be played in Mexico and the final in the United States, Canada will play a prominent role during the first weeks of the tournament.

In this context, Copa Airlines positions itself as a key player in connectivity between Latin America and the tournament. Through the Hub of the Americas® in Panama, the company offers access to more than 85 destinations, facilitating arrival in Toronto through efficient connections, with layover times ranging from 50 to 90 minutes, no need to go through immigration or customs procedures in transit, and with checked baggage through to the final destination.

Operational reliability takes on special importance during an event of this magnitude. With 11 consecutive years as the most punctual airline in Latin America, Copa Airlines is reinforcing its value proposition for travelers who require precise itineraries. In line with the expected increase in demand, the company announced the addition of 30 extra flights between Panama City and Toronto during specific dates of the World Cup.

The onboard experience also takes center stage in this context. Reclining seats and ample legroom throughout the cabin allow for optimal rest during the journey, a key aspect for those seeking to arrive in peak condition to enjoy the matches.

Meanwhile, Toronto is solidifying its position as the main gateway to the World Cup in Canada. BMO Field, which will be called Toronto Stadium during the tournament, will host six matches: five from the group stage and one from the round of 32. Among the highlights are the match between Germany and Ivory Coast, scheduled for June 20, as well as matches from Group L, which includes the Panamanian national team.

One of the most anticipated moments will take place on June 12, when the Canadian national team makes its home debut against a team that qualified through the European playoffs. The stadium, the usual home of Toronto FC and the national team, could also host top-tier teams like Portugal or England in the decisive stages, depending on how the tournament unfolds.

With matches spread across three countries, the 2026 FIFA World Cup is shaping up to be an unprecedented event. For thousands of fans, the experience will begin long before kickoff, and air connectivity will be a key component of that journey. In this context, Copa Airlines connects an entire region to one of the most important sporting events of the year.
