Tourism in Uruguay continues to show positive indicators after the 2025/2026 summer season, with a total foreign exchange income that reached 928 million dollars, representing an increase of 3% compared to the same period of the previous season.
Between December 2025 and February 2026, the country received a total of 1,301,913 visitors, consolidating tourism as one of the main exporting sectors of services and as a relevant engine for the national economy.
One of the most notable indicators was the increase in average tourist spending, which reached $713, reflecting an 11.9% increase compared to the previous summer. This trend demonstrates both greater purchasing power among visitors and an increased appreciation of the country's tourism offerings.
Furthermore, the average stay reached 8 nights, representing an 8.7% increase compared to the previous season. This data reflects a longer stay for tourists at the destination, a key factor in boosting the sector's economic impact.
