The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) announced the appointment of Maribel Rodríguez Gamero as executive vice president of destinations, marking her return to the organization.
In this new phase, she will work closely with destinations, organizations and industry leaders to strengthen collaboration and place the voice of destinations at the center of the global conversation, with the aim of generating long-term sustainable value for the industry.
With over 25 years of international experience, he has a solid track record in the tourism sector. Throughout his career, he has held strategic positions at companies such as Virgin Express, Ryanair, British Airways, and Travelodge Hotels. He also served as Senior Vice President of the WTTC, where he contributed to its international expansion and the organization of global summits.
Currently, she serves as a strategic advisor to international destinations and institutions on issues of positioning and attracting investment, participating in initiatives linked to the global tourism agenda.
For her part, Gloria Guevara, president and CEO of the WTTC, highlighted that this appointment will contribute to strengthening the organization thanks to the experience and strategic vision brought.
Meanwhile, the executive stated: “It is an honor to return to the WTTC at a time when destinations are more than ever at the heart of tourism's transformation. I will do everything in my power to place them at the center of the strategy, strengthening public-private collaboration.”
His joining is part of a new phase for the WTTC, aimed at reinforcing its global relevance and consolidating its role as the leading voice of the private travel and tourism sector worldwide.
The WTTC brings together more than 200 business leaders from the industry across all key segments, from hospitality and aviation to cruises, health and technology, positioning itself as a key player in the sustainable development and growth of the sector.
