Within the framework of WTM Latin America, Teldar Travel is advancing its expansion process in Latin America, with the aim of consolidating itself as a relevant platform for tour operators and tourism professionals in the region.

In a dialogue with Travel2Latam, Edgar Castillo, Sales Manager Mexico & LATAM of the company, analyzed the start of operations in the market, the challenges of the global context and the agenda of actions planned for this year.

Could you give a brief introduction to the company and its proposal for the region?

Teldar Travel is a platform that is part of the Accor group, and we practically started operations in the region in January. Our focus is on becoming one of the leading platforms for tour operators and tourism professionals in Latin America.

While we currently have a greater presence in Europe, the Middle East and parts of Asia-Pacific, the company has a strong interest in expanding in this part of the world, focusing on markets such as Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, the United States, Canada and the Andean region.

What is your assessment of the first few months of operation in the region?

It's been an interesting start to the year, mainly due to the challenges we've faced. The current context, such as the conflict in the Middle East, is forcing us to rethink strategies we may not have considered.

It has been months of hard work, knocking on doors and relying on contacts and colleagues who already knew the team, considering that many of us have previously led companies that are now well positioned in the market.

These challenges, along with changes in the geopolitical landscape, lead us to adapt and understand the new rules of the game within the industry.

How does your schedule of activities and event participation look for the rest of the year? Do you plan to attend any large-scale trade fairs?

Yes, we'll see you at Tianguis Turístico in Mexico, which is in a week and a half, and we'll also be present at FIT to continue positioning the brand in a market as important as Argentina, and especially at a fair that is a watershed moment for the entire region of the Americas.
