Within the framework of Seatrade Cruise Global, Quintana Roo reaffirmed its strategic role within international maritime tourism, with a prominent participation led by Bernardo Cueto Riestra, along with Undersecretary Pablo Casas and authorities from APIQROO.
The state's presence at this global meeting, held in Miami, is part of the strategy promoted by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa to strengthen alliances with the world's leading shipping companies and consolidate the sector's growth.
During 2025, Quintana Roo registered the arrival of more than 7.7 million cruise passengers in its main ports, Cozumel and Mahahual, which represented a growth of 7.5% compared to 2024 and reaffirms its position as one of the most relevant destinations in the Caribbean.
“Quintana Roo remains the World Capital of Vacations, and our participation in this global meeting allows us to continue strengthening the confidence of shipping companies, attract more investment, and diversify the tourism offering for the benefit of our communities,” Cueto Riestra emphasized.
As part of their agenda in Miami, the delegation held strategic meetings with industry leaders, including a meeting with Royal Caribbean Group, where they discussed investment projects and the development of initiatives in key destinations such as Cozumel and Mahahual, with the aim of further strengthening the state's competitiveness.
Meetings were also held with representatives of Norwegian Cruise Line, known for its "freestyle" travel concept, exploring opportunities for the evolution of the tourist experience at the destination.
In parallel, the delegation held a meeting with Leyla R. Osorio, where they discussed the development of Kuzá Park Cozumel, a proposal aimed at enriching the range of experiences for visitors arriving on the island.
With these actions, Quintana Roo continues to strengthen its leadership in the cruise industry, boosting economic growth and consolidating its position as a key global destination.
