Diego Lapenna, Minister of Tourism and Protected Areas of Chubut, participated in WTM Latin America along with a provincial delegation, highlighting the potential of the destination and its growing positioning within Patagonia.

What are your expectations and objectives for participating in WTM Latin America?
Every time we come to WTM, there's a lot of anticipation, especially coming from Patagonia and Chubut. We're aware of how the Brazilian market has become established in many southern destinations, and we believe it's a very attractive market, especially for the Andean region.
We're following in the footsteps of established destinations like Bariloche, Ushuaia, and El Calafate. We understand that simply participating in the trade show isn't enough; it's crucial to then work with tour operators and strategic partners.
The experience at the Brastoa convention in Chubut was very positive, as it allowed us to showcase a different side of Patagonia, which many described as an "undiscovered paradise."

How would you describe Chubut's tourism offerings?
It's a year-round destination focused on nature. We call it the authentic Patagonia.
It's a very large province, with coastline, plateaus, and mountains, and a strong cultural identity that blends indigenous peoples and gaucho traditions.
It also offers outstanding cuisine, unique national parks, and a wide variety of experiences.

What are the prospects for the winter season?
Expectations are always high. Last year was challenging due to the lack of snow at many ski resorts, so this year there are even greater expectations.
In the case of La Hoya ski resort, we are preparing competitive rates and working with the private sector to create attractive offers.
We know that the Brazilian market has a strong interest in winter, so we are focusing on that segment.

What is the current situation in the destination after the recent fires?
Tourist facilities are in perfect condition. While there were significant fires, exacerbated by the drought, tourist areas are operational and ready to receive visitors.
The affected areas are mainly high mountain regions, while tourist trails and parks are in good condition.
