Despegar, Latin America's leading travel technology company, announces the opening of applications for the 19th edition of "High-Flying Young Talents" (JAV), its web development training program. Since its launch in 2013, 396 talented individuals have participated in this tech "school," joining the company from day one and developing their professional careers there. Applications for this new edition will be accepted from April 27 to May 5.

“With 14 years of experience, Jóvenes de Alto Vuelo (JAV) has established itself as one of Despegar’s main incubators of technological talent. Today, almost 50% of our developers began their journey through this program, which combines intensive training with participation in real-world projects. In addition to technical learning, those who join JAV immediately embrace our team culture and the way we work at Despegar. Seeing how many of those who started here now lead projects and teams within the company reflects the impact the program has on our technological development,” said Kevin Thienemann, VP of Engineering at Despegar.

This new edition is open to individuals over 18 years of age who reside in the City of Buenos Aires, Greater Buenos Aires, or La Plata, have completed secondary education, and possess knowledge of development, programming, and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP). Registration must be completed through this link between April 27 and May 5.

In line with the company's technological evolution, the program will delve deeper into the integration of artificial intelligence tools into the learning process. In recent years, Despegar has integrated these technologies into its development teams to optimize processes, improve productivity, and enhance the development of digital products.

“At Despegar, we understand artificial intelligence as a tool that amplifies the capabilities of our developers. That's why we want those who join JAV to also become familiar with these technologies from the beginning and understand how to integrate them into the development process,” said Lucio Loiacono, head of Tech
University at Despegar.

At the same time, the initiative reinforces its original purpose of providing opportunities for those seeking to take their first steps in the technology sector. In its early years, JAV was the first job for many developers, and in recent years, the company has refocused on that objective, prioritizing candidates with potential, curiosity, and a desire to learn.

“JAV was created to offer a first opportunity to people with a passion for technology and a desire for professional growth. Beyond technical skills, we value commitment, curiosity, and the ability to work as part of a team. Many of those who are now part of Despegar began their journey here,” added Loiacono. The 19th edition of JAV joins other training initiatives promoted by Despegar, reaffirming the company's commitment to developing technological talent in the region.
