In celebration of Earth Day, Avianca and Sajú announced their first collaboration, an alliance that combines Avianca's logistical capabilities with Sajú's creativity to highlight circular economy initiatives in territories such as San Andrés and Leticia. While Avianca facilitates the transport of recyclable waste from these regions, Sajú draws inspiration from these projects to translate their stories into design and reach new audiences.

Since 2024, Avianca has collected over 15,000 kg of recyclable waste from these regions free of charge, transporting it to the interior of the country, facilitating its recycling and contributing to the preservation of these areas. Because without destinations there is no tourism, these types of initiatives are key to moving towards a more sustainable model. These results are the starting point for this collaboration.

“Purpose-driven partnerships are a way to amplify what is already happening in the regions. This collaboration with Sajú seeks to highlight the work of communities and organizations that are driving the circular economy in Colombia, putting what we do best at the service of causes that transcend our operations. Because without well-cared-for destinations there is no tourism, we want to connect more people with initiatives that protect these places and inspire more conscious decisions in everyday life,” stated María Carolina Cortés, Avianca’s Global Vice President of Corporate Communications and Reputation.

This effort is being built in partnership with organizations such as Fundación Hábitat Sur in Leticia, Fondo Acción, and the Miss Raxi and Miss Graci Corporation in San Andrés, who lead projects that strengthen local economies and protect natural environments, impacting Indigenous, Afro-descendant, and Raizal communities. In 2025, this strategy directly benefited 13 people in these territories.

“The removal of more than 15,000 kg of waste from San Andrés and Leticia demonstrates how, through our logistical and human capabilities, we contribute to the care of these destinations. This is an effort we have been developing with partners in different regions of the country, but also through our daily operations, consolidating a comprehensive strategy that begins with strengthening internal processes and ends with opportunities to connect with and contribute to the territories and their people,” stated Felipe Andrés Gómez Vivas, Vice President of Public Affairs and Sustainability at Avianca.

With this collaboration, Avianca and Sajú reaffirm their commitment as purpose-driven brands, connecting capabilities to promote tourism that cares for destinations and amplifies initiatives that generate impact in the country.
