ITA Airways will save fuel and reduce emissions thanks to an AI-powered tool
The Italian airline plans to save more than 7,100 tons of fuel and reduce more than 22,100 tons of CO₂ between 2025 and 2026
ITA Airways is advancing its sustainability strategy by implementing SITA OptiFlight, an AI-based solution that optimizes aircraft climb profiles to reduce fuel consumption and emissions.
Thanks to this technology, the company has already achieved significant reductions and projects savings of over 7,100 tons of fuel and more than 22,100 tons of CO₂ between 2025 and 2026. This data-driven approach not only improves operational performance but also generates concrete economic efficiencies.
Implemented across the entire fleet, SITA OptiFlight® calculates the most efficient climb profile for each flight by adjusting key variables such as airspeed, acceleration, altitude transitions, and Mach number. It does this using predictive analytics, machine learning, and 4D weather data, adapting to the specific conditions of each aircraft and operating environment.
The solution applies multidimensional modeling that allows for the generation of precise climb profiles under different conditions, reinforcing ITA Airways' commitment to a more efficient and sustainable operation.
