During the Tianguis Turístico México 2026, the Secretary of Tourism for the Government of Mexico, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, presided over the First Ordinary Session of the National Conference of Tourism Secretaries and Officials (CNT).
This meeting serves as the primary forum for coordination between the Ministry of Tourism and the tourism secretaries of all the states, where strategies are developed, public policies are evaluated, and experiences are shared to strengthen the country's tourism development.
“Today more than ever, coordination between the federal government, states, and municipalities is fundamental to consolidating tourism that generates well-being and shared prosperity throughout the country; when we work together, tourism becomes a real tool for development for our communities,” stated the head of the Ministry of Tourism.
In compliance with regulations, this meeting brought together representatives from 28 federal entities and was the space to define work routes, align public policies, strengthen planning and accelerate national tourism development; the presentation of strategies to continue promoting the strengthening of Magical Towns, as well as a plan to increase sports tourism activities, stood out.
During the session, progress was made in consolidating a strategy for measuring the sector in each state, using the Datatur platform, as well as the use of the Sectur Hotel Monitoring System. In this regard, Secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora highlighted the importance of monitoring their destinations:
“The goal is for you to have a methodology and use the corresponding monitoring; with data, you can go to your governor and say, I have 10 percent more tourists, and you will achieve that if you delve deeply into monitoring the information of your circuits,” he explained.
Joint promotional activities with the federal entities were also detailed, as well as the alignment of states and municipalities to PROSECTUR 2025-2030; in this regard, the application “Simplicity – Explore Mexico” was presented, aimed at innovation and improvement of the tourist experience.
The Mexican Ministry of Tourism continues to consolidate the National Sports Tourism Policy as a key strategy to boost regional development, stimulate the local economy, and position the country as a competitive destination. In this context, it has promoted competitions that bring together athletes, visitors, and local communities, while also fostering values such as inclusion, social interaction, and the responsible use of tourist destinations.
Rodríguez Zamora stated that this session allowed the Conference to continue consolidating as a strategic body to coordinate the performance of the sector, identify areas of opportunity and share good practices that strengthen Mexico's tourism competitiveness.
He also stressed that unity among the three levels of government is the foundation for triggering investment, diversifying destinations, and ensuring that the benefits of tourism reach more communities throughout the country.
“Today we see all the entities sitting at the same table, with their Secretaries of Tourism, alongside the private and social sectors, working toward a common goal. This convergence is no coincidence: it is a sign of a sector that understands that only through unity can tourism generate shared prosperity and reach more communities throughout Mexico,” he concluded.
For his part, the Secretary of Tourism of Guerrero, Simón Quiñones Orozco, highlighted the relevance of the National Conference of Secretaries of Tourism and Tourism Officials as a key space to strengthen coordination between the states and the federation.
