Belize Tourism Board (BTB) began its participation today in the golden edition of Tianguis Turístico México, the most important tourism business meeting in the country and a key reference for the region, which this week brings together more than a thousand buyers and representatives from 17 countries at the Expo Mundo Imperial.

Belize arrives at the Tianguis with a strategy focused on consolidating Mexico as a priority source market, leveraging its greatest competitive advantage: being the Caribbean neighbor of the Riviera Maya. Just a few hours by land from Chetumal or via regional flight from Cancún, Belize positions itself as the natural extension of a trip to southeastern Mexico. The border crossing is direct, maximizing itinerary time and allowing visitors to continue exploring Mayan culture while enjoying an English-speaking Caribbean experience.

"Mexico is a strategic market for Belize due to cultural affinity, geographical proximity, and traveler profile. We are here to work with the Mexican trade on the development of multi-destination products and, in parallel, advance the agenda of improving regional air connectivity, which is one of our priorities for the coming years," said Gale Ozaeta, Marketing and Communications Manager of the Belize Tourism Board (BTB).

What Belize presents in Acapulco:
The destination's proposal for this edition is structured around three main themes that the delegation will work on with tour operators, airlines, and wholesalers during the four days of the event:

Multi-destination Riviera Maya–Belize. Combined routes with Mexican tour operators integrate archaeological sites in southeastern Mexico with Caracol, Xunantunich, and Lamanai in Belize, plus the Caribbean beaches of Ambergris Caye or Caye Caulker.
Nature with credentials. More than 36% of Belizean territory is under some form of environmental protection. The country is also home to the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef—the second largest in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site—and the Great Blue Hole, a global diving icon.
High-value tourism. A consolidated offering of boutique lodges, eco-resorts, and adventure experiences that respond to the growing demand for transformative, low-impact travel.
Streamlined connectivity for travelers and the trade.
To support the multi-destination strategy, Belize will highlight the current logistical advantages for accessing the country during the event. Belize offers accessible connectivity for travelers in Mexico, whether through direct regional flights (such as the Cancun–Belize City route) or via efficient ground transportation from Chetumal and southern Quintana Roo. During the Tianguis, the team will share operational details with travel agents on how to easily integrate these routes into their catalogs.

Meeting with Press and Trade Professionals:
The Belize delegation will be available throughout the week of Tianguis at Booth 147 to meet with the press and tourism professionals. New products and business opportunities will be presented for the remainder of 2026 and the 2027 season.
