Mastercard contributes to solve the challenges presented by the tourism industry

The technology company for global payments and the WTTC will work together to help solve the main challenges facing tourism today

Mastercard and the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) will work together to help solve the main challenges facing tourism today, which are digitization, mobility across borders and overpopulation.

According to what was reported in the last WTTC meeting held in Buenos Aires, the company and the institution will jointly seek to progress in digitizing travel booking payments to create a more secure and stable environment, explore biometric technologies for safer user experiences, facilitate access to public transport through the sale of contactless and mobile tickets, help destination marketing organizations better understand the needs of travelers and develop joint actions with national and regional governments to ensure that communities benefit from tourism.

Diana Robino, SVP Enterprise Partnerships of MasterCard said that "The travel and tourism industry is one of the largest industries in the world, representing more than 10% of the Global GDP, so contributing to its development is a challenge too big for any individual entity. With this idea, we have started a joint work with the WTTC, to add knowledge, solutions and scales that help transform it ".

In addition to Robino, who participated in the panel on "Safe and uninterrupted travel: defining a vision for the future", Mastercard brought the experience of Kevin White, Director Enterprise Partnerships, who spoke on the subject at the Tourism for Tomorrow Awards, sponsored by the company.
