A conference was held that delivered a complete radiography of the travel and tourism agencies sector through the data obtained in the Sectoral Economic Census conducted by the OAS.TUR and other international sources
The day today at CAF 2018 opened with an interesting conference where the Yearbook of Travel Agencies of Argentina was presented, which offers an interesting X-ray of the local market.
According to the same, the growth rate of international arrivals registered in 2017 has been the most important in the last 7 years.
At the market level, North America has had an increase of 1.6% and a 10% share, South America grew 6.7% with a 2.7% share, Africa grew 7.8% with a share of 4.7, Europe grew 8.4% with a participation of 50.8% and Asia / Pacific grew by 5.8% with a participation of 24.5%.
The emissive market has grown 11.6% and the receptive 4.3%. The growth of the receptive market is explained by the 16% increase of the Brazilian market.
Another important fact is that in 2007 there were 4414 registered agencies and today the figure reaches a total of 5338, which means a growth of 20.9%. The province of Buenos Aires has 22.3% of the companies registered, while the city of Buenos Aires has 26.8%. In Cordoba 11% are located, in Santa Fe 9.6% and Mendoza 9.6%.
The travel agencies have a workforce of 25268 people. 90% are employed in a dependency relationship and 10% are monotributistas or self-employed.
One notable aspect is that 76.2% are companies with 1 to 7 employees, 18.2% have 8 to 30 people, 4.9% have 31 to 165 employees and only 0.6% have 166 or more.
In terms of billing levels, 35.9% invoice up to 3.5 million pesos, 27.8% up to 15 million pesos, 27.4% up to 120 million pesos and only 8.9% more than 120 million pesos.
Regarding its activity, 57.6% are retailers, 31.2% are wholesalers and retailers and 11.2% are wholesalers. 48.1% is dedicated to international receptive, 87.5% to national tourism and 88% sells international tourism.
At the niche level, 81.9% sell sun and beach, 80% sell cruises, 68.8 urban tourism, 54.2 cultural, 53.6 snow, 50.9 luxury tourism, 44.1 MICE, 42.6 sports, 40.2 adventure, 32% religious 18.9% offer ecotourism.
The projection for 2018 is for the issuing market to continue growing in the most important markets. The United States would be the most progress with an estimated 2.9%, the Euro zone would increase 2.4%, Brazil would grow 2.3% and the rest of Latin America 2.0%.
