Viva Air Peru arrives in the Dominican Republic

The firm currently offers trips to the Peruvian cities of Arequipa, Cusco, Iquitos, Piura and Tarapoto, as well as a connection service between Peru and Colombia

The Dominican Republic is part of the 21 countries that the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) has authorized the low cost airline Viva Air Peru can operate the international non-scheduled air transport service (without a certain frequency), passengers, cargo and mail.

The note published by publimetro.pe indicates that the Resolution of the MTC specified that the destinations to which the company can fly are, apart from the Dominican Republic are: Costa Rica, Cuba, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Haiti, Panama, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay, Venezuela, Guyana and Suriname.

The company announced that its first international route will be to Colombia and that it will start selling those tickets from July, while for the other routes it does not have an expected date yet.

José Castellanos, general director of Viva Air Peru, had already informed the economic newspaper Gestión in April that the company is "exploring the possibility of opening an office in Ecuador".
