The airline sponsors the exhibition Frida Kahlo: Making Herself Up, which will present photographs and personal objects of the artist in London
Aeromexico, the flagship airline of Mexico, is proud to sponsor the exhibition Frida Kahlo: Making Herself Up at the Victoria and Albert Museum (V & A) in London. This will be the first exhibition outside of Mexico that will showcase the clothing and personal belongings of the iconic Mexican artist, in order to offer a new perspective on his fascinating life.
Aeromexico, through Aeromexico Cargo, transported more than 200 objects for the exhibition thanks to its direct, nonstop daily flight between Mexico City and London, operated with the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, one of the most modern aircraft in the world. The airline will also support the exhibition with the transportation of the staff of the Frida Kahlo Museum.
Thanks to the close collaboration with the Frida Kahlo Museum, personal objects from La Casa Azul will be exhibited, such as emblematic self-portraits, photographs, distinctive and colorful tehuana garments, pre-Columbian necklaces made by the artist, hand-painted corsets, letters and prosthetics, among other objects that will offer a visual narrative of his life.
Paul Verhagen, Director of International Sales at Aeromexico, said: "At Aeromexico we work every day to present not only Mexico's natural wealth, but also the historical and cultural heritage that defines the diversity and identity of this country and its people, for which we are very proud to be able to support and be part of the exhibition at the V & A Museum, which will serve to exhibit the legacy left by one of the greatest exponents of art in Mexico and the world. "
Tristram Hunt, Director of the Victoria and Albert Museum, said: "Frida Kahlo is one of the most emblematic and well-known artists of the last century. We are very excited to be able to present Frida's wardrobe, her medical corsets, makeup and other personal items along with her self-portraits, in order to better understand and celebrate this remarkable artist.
