Colombia projects improvements in its airport infrastructure

Among the projects under study by the National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) are the expansion of the Rafael Núñez de Cartagena airport, the modernization of the Gustavo Rojas Pinilla airports on the Island of San Andrés and El Embrujo de Providencia; a new extension of the Alfonso Bonilla Aragón Airport in Cali, which would be concessioned together with the Perales de Ibagué, Gerardo Tobar de Buenaventura, Benito Salas de Neiva and El Eden airports in Armenia, which would also be intervened.

In addition to this, the ANI confirmed that it is planning to build a second airport for Bogotá in the capital's savannah and received two private initiative proposals, one to concession the El Dorado airfield and another one called the Sistema Aeroportuario de Bogotá 2025, which includes the expansion of El Dorado, a new passenger terminal, the construction of a third runway, and the first stage of the second airport in the capital.

The viability of the projects mentioned as the continuation of the bidding processes is expected to be in the hands of the next government.
