Quito is a multifaceted city, with natural, architectural, cultural, patrimonial and gastronomic wealth, which is setting the pace in tourism development as the leader of the region. This is evidenced by the twelve awards he received in the 'Oscars' of tourism this year.

Being a leading destination in South America is the most prestigious recognition of the tourism industry worldwide, which puts the city on the world stage.

With the triumph in the Leading Destination category of South America, in Meetings and Conferences Tourism and with the next inauguration of the Metropolitan Convention Center of Quito, the city focuses on the development of the events industry, hoping to maintain the leadership in sustainable tourism and accessible during the following years.

For the first time, this year Quito also won the award for Destination Cultural City Leader of South America, which recognizes the cultural and heritage legacy that the city has for 40 years, being the First Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

This could not happen, if the city did not count with the Mariscal Sucre International Airport, which has also been awarded in this gala, for the fifth year, as the leading airport in South America and that, this year, Forbes included it within the top ten of the world, naming it, for the third time, as Best Regional Airport in South America by Skytrax World Airport Awards, considered the most prestigious awards for the global airport industry. Undoubtedly, the Quito Airport is a symbol of leadership, vanguard and innovation.

The capital of the Ecuadorians recognized Termas de Papallacta for receiving the Leading Resort Award in South America. For tourists who visit it, this is one of the preferred destinations outside the DMQ, because it is an hour away.

Quito is powered by obtaining these awards as a South American reference, which positions it worldwide as a destination included in the list of the next cities to visit by travelers.

According to the latest official data of migration and analysis of Quito Tourism, between January to August 2018, the arrival of domestic and foreign tourists amounted to 3000000.

As the winner of these awards in South America, Quito now becomes one of the finalist cities that will compete in the World Travel Awards worldwide.
