The Houston Rockets Bond in The Bahamas – For the second consecutive year, the Houston Rockets traveled to the sunny shores of The Bahamas to stage a minicamp and foster team bonding before their official training camp and the NBA preseason begins. During their stay, the men’s basketball team stayed at the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar and worked out daily at the Kendal G.L. Isaacs National Gymnasium in Nassau. Last year’s trip to The Bahamas was credited with playing a role in the team’s success last season by helping build chemistry between players.
Bahamasair and Delta Air Lines Expand Nonstop Service to The Bahamas – Beginning on Saturday, October 12, 2018, Bahamasair will offer a nonstop service from Miami, FL (MIA) to San Salvador, Bahamas (ZSA). The Saturday-only service will operate on a Boeing 737 aircraft, which can accommodate 120 travelers per flight. Additionally, Delta Air Lines will add a second daily nonstop flight to Nassau, Bahamas (NAS) from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). The expanded Nassau service will begin on October 1, 2018 and is currently available for booking.
U.S. Journalists and Social Influencers Visit The Bahamas – Throughout August, two groups of top-tier U.S. journalists and social influencers traveled to The Bahamas for curated experiences in The Abacos and Freeport. Here, they familiarized themselves with the history, culture and cuisine of the islands, while enjoying authentic experiences guided by Bahamians. From being photographed by local underwater photographer Andre Musgrove and paddling on a Blue Green Outdoor kayak tour in Freeport to learning about the history of Man-O-War Cay and enjoying a beachside cookout with Brendal in The Abacos, the groups were able to experience the true essence of The Bahamas. Through these guided trips, the journalists and influencers are able to educate their readers about The Bahamas by developing in-depth articles and captivating social stories.
Bird Feared Extinct Rediscovered in The Bahamas – After Hurricane Matthew in 2016, one of the world’s rarest birds was thought to be extinct - until now. Researchers from the University of East Anglia recently spotted the elusive Bahama Nuthatch on Grand Bahama Island for the first time in two years, generating international excitement from wildlife enthusiasts around the rediscovery of this species. Grand Bahama Island is the only known home of the Bahama Nuthatch, where it nests in the mature pine trees on the island.
