Porto Seguro: October, the last month for whale watching Jubarte

Come from the frozen seas of Antarctica looking for these warm waters to meet, reproduce, and light their young

Between the months of July and October the Jubarte whales invade the maritime coast of the South Bay, in Brazil. They come from the frozen seas of Antarctica looking for these warm waters to meet, reproduce, and light their young. A magnificent natural spectacle that few places in the world allow to appreciate. The Tower is one of them.

In association with the Cía do Mar - recognized as the operator responsible for the Ballena Jubarte Institute -, La Torre promotes these trips in a regal exclusive vessel with capacity for up to 57 passengers, and 3 crew members.

Until October 28, the promenades will depart from the beach in front of the resort. Then they will leave again heading south until next July.

Now runs the 11th season of these sightings, and according to its coordinator, Paula Leite, "year after year we noticed that the population of whales increases, which makes the crew more efficient each year, thus improving our services."

The adventure of this tour begins with an introductory talk about the Jubarte Whales, then the sighting begins, and a hydrophone is quickly available to hear and enjoy the famous song of the whales.

Specialist whale guides accompany the excursion, coordinated by a marine biologist, Thais Moura do Melo, specialized in whale sightings, who during navigation reports on the habits and behaviors of these giants. "Everyone," says Thais, "dreams of seeing a jump out of the water, it's a behavior that generates a great ovation, a unique emotion, because at that moment you can contemplate your whole body, including its tails, which are like your fingerprints. digital, since there is no one equal to the other ".

For Luigi Rotunno, general manager of La Torre, the ride, in fact, is an experience that goes beyond the sighting itself. "The experience is not only the contact with the whales, because you can see them up close, jumping out of the sea, you can hear them, but during the trip, about an hour and a half, from the explanations of Thais, there is a question of respect for nature, for the sea, and for the importance of sustainability and non-contamination ".

The departures are weekly, sailing from the Beach Club of La Torre, in front of the resort. It requires a minimum of 35 people and logically favorable weather conditions for navigation. The tour is not part of the all inclusive system, it must be purchased at the resort's Guest Service, and the tour includes lunch and non-alcoholic beverages.
