Tourism in Jamaica adds infrastructure and grows

During press presentations prior to SOTIC, Donovan Whyte, director of tourism of the destination said that arrivals grew 5.4% and important hotel openings are coming

 

During the morning of yesterday, Donovan Whyte, director of tourism of Jamaica made a press presentation that was part of the day previous to the beginning of the SOTIC 2018, event organized by CTO.

The official stressed that it is a moment of boom for tourism in his country. According to Whyte, arrivals increased by 5.4 percent and the spill of 2017 increased from $ 2.6 billion to more than $ 3.1 billion.

The director added more data regarding the hotel infrastructure, which augur an even better future for Jamaica as it confirmed the new projects that will be inaugurated. Such is the case of the Excellence Oyster Bay in Trelawny, approximately half an hour from the Montego Bay airport. It is a 325 room property that will open in June. Whyte also pointed out the enormous renovation project that is being carried out in the venerable Half Moon, one of the best resorts in the Caribbean.

He also said that the Breezes Montego Bay is becoming a fabulous new hotel with 125 rooms that overlooks Doctor's Cave beach. While at the end of this year work will begin on a Hard Rock Hotel with 1,100 rooms in Montego Bay. Karisma will also invest in the destination as construction will start in St. Ann early next year for a complex with 700 rooms.
