Belize announces growth of 17% in SOTIC and new properties

The Caribbean destination was presented yesterday to the international media invited to SOTIC coverage. His Minister of Tourism assured that they are working to expand hotel capacity and connectivity

Belize has held a press conference on the day before the opening of SOTIC 2018, a CTO event that takes place in the Bahamas this week. The Minister of Tourism Manuel Heredia said: "Tourism grows 17% a year in our country, which has generated some concern about whether things are growing too fast." The meeting was also attended by Karen Bevans, director of tourism for the destination, who said that the government is monitoring things and that the new projects are of modest size. "Authenticity remains," he said.

The new hotels include Marriott and Wyndham properties. It has also started in the construction of a new Four Seasons Hotel.

Another significant novelty is the increase in connectivity, the destination announced that Aeroméxico will begin offering flights to Belize from December.
