The peculiar Puerto Rican Christmas is considered to begin with Thanksgiving, which this year will take place on November 22, and ends with the festivities of Las Calles de San Sebastián.
"Las Calles" or "San Se" as the locals call it, is the largest party in Puerto Rico, and attracts thousands of people annually, both tourists and locals, all ready to celebrate day and night. These take place in the streets of El Viejo San Juan, and last 4 days, from Thursday to Sunday. This Christmas season, will be taking place from January 17-20, 2019.
The event is a celebration of Puerto Rican culture and is perfect for all ages. During the day, there are different activities, including a Cabezudos stop, during which a group of people disguised in papier-mâché masks parade through the streets with music to entertain people. There are also food kiosks, local artisans, and live music, for the enjoyment of the whole family
With the fall of night, the parties do not stop, and the streets of old San Juan are filled with a group of younger people, who enjoy dancing, music, food and drink until the early hours.
