Employees of IHG join forces for the environment, health and well-being

IHG® (InterContinental Hotels Group) today announced that nearly 130,000 colleagues from its hotels and offices around the world have joined to form part of the inaugural month of "Giving for Good".

During the month, IHG colleagues were invited to make a positive contribution through volunteering, doing something in favor of the environment or something extra to take care of their health and well-being. For each colleague who participated, IHG contributed funds to one of the 11 associated charities that the colleague has chosen, donating a total of US $ 400,000 over the course of the month. The altruistic organizations associated with IHG were carefully selected to support causes close to our business, including the development of skills and education in the hospitality industry and to provide assistance in the event of a disaster.

A truly global effort
From the shelters in Atlanta to the beaches of the United Arab Emirates, the rivers of China and the Swiss Mountains, almost 130,000 of our colleagues participated in activities to make a positive difference in their communities and those around them. Working together, during the month the IHG colleagues achieved:

More than 125,000 hours of volunteering
More than 23,000 donations of food and equipment
Almost 4,500 blood donations for the needy
More than 38,000 actions focused on the care of the environment
