In 2018, the Rafael Núñez de Cartagena airport mobilized 5,463,873 national and international passengers, 12.7% more than those reported in 2017
This figure, a record in the operation of the local airport, shows the dynamism of the airport's activity in the city and is a reflection of the expansion of the air connectivity of this capital.
With the growth of passengers, the number of air operations also increased by 10%, from 46,520 in 2017 to 51,740 last year. Of those operations, 42,508 were national and 9,232 international.
Of the total of passengers mobilized last year, 82.31% corresponded to national passengers, who totaled 4'497.606 in the period; while the international ones represented 17.68%, about 966,267 travelers, according to the report of the Sociedad Aeroportuaria de la Costa S.A. (SACSA).
"These statistics are the result of management alongside institutions that work day by day for the competitiveness of the city: City Hall of Cartagena, Cartagena Corpoturismo, Cotelco Cartagena Chapter, ProColombia and SACSA. During 2018, we promoted Cartagena as a destination in Latin America and the United States, in search of new routes and that management will be reflected in 2019, said María Claudia Gideón, Manager of Corporate Affairs at SACSA.
