Marked by a period of positive results, the Buenos Aires Convention Center (CEC) culminated its first year of activity with more than 30 national and international events. In this way, the brand new complex begins to position itself as a world class space, contributing to the positioning of the city as a destination for meeting tourism.
During 2018, the CEC managed to capture important events such as G-20, Platinum Pencil, Annual Congress of Radiology CADI 2018, 17th International Congress of Internal Medicine of the Hospital de Clínicas, Urban 20, Olympism in Action Forum, National Meeting of Intendants, among others.
Leonardo Asin, manager of the CEC, said: "The management of this space is undoubtedly a great challenge that we face and today we are satisfied with what has been achieved. Each member of the UTE knew how to contribute their know-how to carry out the exploitation of this venue that has enormous potential. Today we can say that it became a fundamental piece for the tourism of meetings within the City of Buenos Aires ".
For his part, Gonzalo Robredo, president of the Buenos Aires Tourism Authority said: "The good performance of the CEC speaks of an international interest in the city and is the result of promoting the destination during this time. We are living a crucial year at the tourist level, where we consolidate as an attractive city with infrastructure and prepared. The importance of this phenomenon is that each tourist has a multiplier effect because of the income it generates and because it is a new promoter of the City ".
Among the promotional actions, the presence at IMEX was highlighted in Frankfurt, Germany, where commercial contacts were made with representatives of the industries present; as well as, the services and main attributes of the center were made known.
In addition, its web platform www.cecbuenosaires.com.ar is already operational with all the information about the calendar of events, news, capacities of halls and rooms, services and useful data for organizers and exhibitors. At the same time, through the profiles of Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, the dissemination of the activities and news of the site will be amplified.
For the year 2019, a satisfactory level of activity is expected. To date, there is already confirmation of more than 10 events with a strong presence of the medical and scientific community, among which the XX Argentine Congress of Hepatology, the XXXVII Annual Meeting of Latin American Dermatologists 2019 - RADLA, XXXV Latin American Congress of Anesthesiology; in addition to the international conference of the United Nations for South Cooperation, Smart City and the 18th National Retailer Meeting.
In this way, the CEC is positioned as an emblematic space of the city for the MICE industry of Buenos Aires and Latin America.

Business tourism is one of the main drivers of the arrival of international tourists, with an expense per trip of 25% more compared to the average tourist. In 2017 there were 488,318 that generated revenue for the City of US $ 533 million, according to the Buenos Aires Tourism Authority. With the opening of the CEC, Buenos Aires expanded its accommodation capacity and the possibility of receiving larger events. In the last year, it was the leading city for congresses and conventions in America and the 11th in the world, according to the Ranking of the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA).
