Nearly 7 million foreign tourists visited Argentina in 2018

Compared to the previous year it represents a growth
of 3.4 percent

 

During 2018, 6,941,828 foreign tourists arrived to our country by air, sea and land, with an interannual growth of 3.4 percent.

In all cases, the comparison was positive. By air 2,760 thousand tourists entered, 7.5 percent more than in 2017; by sea, 1,037 thousand visitors arrived, 0.4 percent more; and by land, 3,145 thousand people, a 1.1 percent increase.

"The increase in the arrival of tourists is the product of a permanent work to unite Argentina with the world, through improvements in connectivity, in competitiveness, in the expansion of the offer of our destinations and the experiences they offer, and for a strong promotion of the country in strategic markets ", affirmed the Secretary of Tourism of the Nation, Gustavo Santos.

From Brazil arrived 1,318,148 passengers (6.2 percent more), from Chile, 1,087,246 (5.6 percent more), from the United States and Canada 480,338 tourists arrived (8 percent more) and from Europe, 939,038 (3.3 percent more).

Regarding the economic impact, the incoming expenditure of 2018 only by air was 3.197 million dollars, without considering the cost of international travel. In Argentine pesos, it represents 92,198 million, 28.1 percent in real pesos more when compared to the previous year.

The data come from a survey of the Tourism Secretariat of the Nation based on the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC) and the National Directorate of Migration of Argentina.
