The second and last phase of the interior remodeling of the main cabin of the Airbus A320 marks the beginning of a new era of comfort and connectivity for customers
JetBlue announced today that its new cabin experience has entered service, bringing to the skies the widest seats available for this aircraft, on-board entertainment (IFE) personalized on the backs with more than 100 DirecTV channels and hundreds of movies and free programs, the availability of connecting your mobile phone to the screen, charging plugs available in each seat and an expanded Wi-Fi connectivity in almost all JetBlue routes. JetBlue's A320 aircraft, which make up the majority of the airline's fleet, are being updated for the first time since the airline innovated the industry in 2000 with its live television service and leather seats.
The renewal effort has been working for several years, this latest aircraft being the first to receive the new design of 2019. The aircraft, called "If You Can Read This, You're Blue Close", joins the fleet today , with more than forty aircraft scheduled to be renewed by the end of the year.
"JetBlue caused a sensation in the industry in 2000 with televisions on the backs and leather seats, and in our first refurbishment since then, this incredible new experience on board represents what the founders would have done if they were launching JetBlue today," he said. Marty St. George, executive vice president and commercial director of JetBlue. "The new experience unites technology, entertainment and convenience with the award-winning service that the JetBlue customer so appreciates."
For most of the airline's more than 100 destinations, the renewal of the A320 will bring the updated JetBlue experience to your city for the first time.
An important focus of the renovation is to keep customers connected during their flight, including the new on-board entertainment system, high definition televisions on the backs, charging sockets with USB port and continuous fast internet with door-to-door connection, known as Fly-Fi on JetBlue, with an expanded coverage area-including around the Caribbean and Latin America, where Fly-Fi had not been available so far.
Larger seats for the A320
In 2019, JetBlue will equip its A320 aircraft with Collins Meridian seats, designed for the needs of the airline and which presents a number of design elements with customer comfort in mind:
Expanded seats offer more than 18 inches in width, the widest seats available for the A320. The largest space between chairs in economy class compared to any airline in the United States (a).
