The President of the Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA), Michele Paige, congratulated the Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, Francisco Javier García Fernández, for his excellent work in benefit of the development of the cruise industry of the Dominican Republic.
Paige met today with García Fernández, together with senior executives of the FCCA committee, in the context of the Seatrade Cruise Global fair, an event that constitutes a perfect scenario to promote destinations to the most influential leaders in the industry.
During the meeting, in which the director of the cruise department of MITUR, Orfila Salazar; and the director of the Tourist Promotion Office -OPT- of the DR in Miami, Wendy Justo, the tourism minister promised to continue his policy of international promotion towards that thriving industry.
"We will continue to support the cruise industry in all areas of promotion and training, in fact, wherever we see the opportunity of a cruise project, we will do it," said Garcia Fernandez.
In that sense, Paige congratulated Francisco Javier on several occasions during the aforementioned meeting, for his extraordinary work, while expressing that all passengers and cruise lines are very happy with the Dominican Republic destination.
"You are doing a tremendous job, excellent, and everyone in the industry is very happy, since their destiny is unique, with extraordinary diversity," Paige said.
He also suggested that it is a good time for the cruise industry, so he estimates that in the next eight years, the Dominican Republic will continue its growth in the sector.
The participation of García Fernández in the Seatrade Cruise Global 2019 fair, held in the city of Miami, Florida, is part of the international promotion strategy promoted by MITUR to position the Dominican Republic as a destination for cruises of high potential and with extraordinary conditions. for those types of tourists.
The meeting was attended by Jesus M. Mendez, Regional Director of Port Operations; Andre Pousada, Assistant to the Vice President of Government Relations for Royal Caribbean, José Gabriel Rodríguez, Assistant Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic.
In the 35th edition of the Seatrade Cruise Global fair, which was held until Thursday 11 at the Miami Beach Convention Center, there were meetings between shipping companies, suppliers, ports and consignees, around more than 12,000 industry professionals, 900 companies from 93 countries and more than 300 journalists from around the world.
The Dominican delegation was also represented by the Deputy Minister of Puerto Plata, Julio Almonte; of APORDOM, Luz Ureña; as well as officials of financial companies such as the Reserve Bank of the Dominican Republic; Runners Adventure; Port of Sans Souci; Bay Cruise Samaná; Marítima Dominicana (MARDOM), La Romana Cruise Port, with its new Sugar Breeze terminal; the Tourist Cluster of Puerto Plata; Artesanías Hermanos Guillen; PortoReal Cigars, Lo Motete, among others.
