Southwest Airlines plans to reach Cozumel by 2020

"The intention of flying to the island is a first step that will allow us to operate a new route to the Mexican Republic, adding four destinations in this country, which has welcomed us with open arms for five years," said Manuel de Oyarzabal, manager of market and distribution strategy for Southwest Airlines.

With this new flight Southwest will continue to offer its legendary Customer Service in Mexico, as well as its offer of fair and transparent fares, without charges for cancellations or changes in the itinerary, as well as the possibility of flying with two documented suitcases, free of cost.

The airline started flights to Mexico in August 2014 to Cancun and Los Cabos, and to date offers up to eleven daily flights from Los Cabos to ten cities in the United States, as well as 22 flights from Cancun to 15 North American cities. Southwest also offers six daily flights from Puerto Vallarta to five cities in the neighboring country, connecting these three beach destinations in Mexico with more than 100 destinations that Southwest maintains in its route network.

For the next holiday season, Southwest will offer flights on weekends, starting November 9 from Nashville, Milwaukee and San Antonio to Cancun, as well as from Chicago (Midway) to Los Cabos. These flights, as well as the more than 4 thousand daily flights that the airline operates, are already available on southwest.com.

On the other hand, Southwest will soon be celebrating its fifth anniversary of operations in Mexico, one of the destinations with which it began its international expansion.
