70 skiers went down from the Martial Glacier lighting up the city of Ushuaia

The event organized by the Government of the province of Tierra del Fuego through the Fuegian Tourism Institute and Cerro Martial Parque del Fin del mundo, started at 6.30 pm with hot chocolate by the Argentine Navy, had a Macrabares show , raffles and a stand where the community and tourists were able to live the "Tierra del Fuego in virtual reality" experience.
Then the organizers made two recognitions, on the one hand highlighting the work and dedication of Juan Vera, an employee of INFUETUR who was part of the history of the Martial Mountain Center. On the other hand, the Ushuaia Ski School was distinguished, which celebrates 25 years providing a quality service and professionalism aimed at the continuous growth at the base of the Martial.
The most anticipated moment came after 20 hours when the mountain was lit by torchfire and an emotional moment was experienced when 70 expert skiers descended from the Martial Glacier. Immediately Jorge "Coco" Beltrame founder of the Ushuaia Ski School set fire to the official torch carried by Antonio Wallner pioneer of the mountain, who accompanied by Castelli and Senator Julio Catalán Magni, lit the doll of bad vibes, an octopus made by the students of the Polyvalent of Art of Ushuaia.
In this regard, the president of INFUETUR, Luis Castelli stressed that “we are meeting celebrating this party at the Martial, this place where thousands of people took their first steps in skiing, and today we are in a new stage, having fulfilled the objective of bidding and award this Mountain Center, where we will see in a few more months how the new chairlift begins to be built and the Cerro Martial Parque del Fin del Mundo project grows. ”
“Like every year, we carry out this event in commemoration of Montañés Day, which will be on August 5, in accordance with the feast of the Virgen de las Nieves, patron saint of the mountain people. So I want to highlight the work of those who work in the mountains, doing prevention, rescue, guiding and taking care of our natural environment, ”added the official.
Within this framework, the work of the Nineteenth Tierra del Fuego Association of the National Gendarmerie was highlighted by the collaboration it carries out in the security operation for the promotion of expert skiers to the Martial, and the next signing of a collaboration agreement was announced in terms of security in the mountain center.

Fire from the Glacier
In this edition 70 skiers and expert climbers climbed the mountain for two and a half hours and then crowned the traditional event descending from the Martial Glacier to its base carrying torches. The public lived it expectantly gathered in the mountain center as well as those who gathered in different parts of the city to live the magical moment where the mountain is illuminated.
