The Caribbean country offers dream destinations for adventure activities, live cultural and gastronomic experiences, explore as a couple or enjoy with your family

Beaches, mountains and rivers; museums, shows and historical monuments; Water sports, theme parks and adventure options. Whether it is a romantic getaway, a family trip, a cultural motivation or enjoying the sea and adventure, the Dominican Republic has fantastic destinations for all types of travelers, always in a unique natural environment.
“The Dominican Republic seduces everyone with the most diverse landscapes at a very short distance from each other, unique experiences in contact with nature, pre-Hispanic art and indigenous flavors,” says Magaly Toribio, Marketing Advisor of the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic (MITUR). "Everyone finds here their ideal destination to enjoy an unforgettable vacation at any time of the year."

The following are five ideal destinations for different types of travelers:

Jarabacoa: the Dominican jewel of adventure and ecotourism
Jarabacoa means "place of waters" in Taíno and is part of the Cordillera Central. Its rivers, mountains and dense pine forests form a lovely environment to live the best adventures of rappelling, hiking, cycling, paragliding and rafting. Climbing the Pico Duarte (3,087 meters high) is one of the most popular excursions. The region is also known for its wonderful waterfalls. Rafting in Salto Baiguate, climbing to Salto de Jimenoa or swimming in La Cortina and La Confluencia, two parks full of natural pools, are ideal plans for adventurers. Jarabacoa offers several options for ecotourism accommodations, from ranches to river banks and eco-lodges to glamping sites.

Santo Domiingo: the appointment for lovers of culture and gastronomy
The capital city of the country is synonymous with cultural wealth and excellent cuisine. In every corner, museums, parks, music and dance shows, art galleries and viewpoints invite you to get to know and experience Dominican history and culture. The Colonial City is the emblematic place, where you can see historical monuments such as the Ozama Fortress or the Alcazar de Colón. Because of its cosmopolitan profile, the movement in the rest of the national district is constant, with a wide variety of restaurants and foodtrucks serving Dominican, international, vegan and signature cuisine, among others. 30 kilometers from the city, an unforgettable cultural experience is to visit the Anthropological Reserve Cuevas de Borbón or del Pomier, located in the San Cristóbal Province, an area that houses 54 caves with more than 4 thousand pictographs and pre-Columbian petroglyphs.

Puerto Plata: the right place for sea and sports enthusiasts
Surf? Try your luck with Stand Up Paddle? Kitesurf? Or maybe windsurfing? All this and more offers Puerto Plata, the destination of the north coast that attracts travelers who enjoy the sea and water sports. The Encuentro de Cabarete Beach is one of the favorite by surfers from around the world. There the day ends with a good drink in one of the bars on the beach, in a bohemian atmosphere. To the northwest of Puerto Plata, the town of Punta Rucia dazzles with dreamlike white sand beaches surrounded by mangroves. From there, boats leave for Cayo Arena, a paradise for beginner divers or snorkelers. Transparent waters allow visitors to see octopus, crabs and schools of fish that swim at shallow depth.

Punta Cana: an ideal getaway for the whole family
Meeting the tastes and needs of different family members is a great challenge for every tourist destination and Punta Cana does it! Not only does the visitor fall in love with its beaches and all-inclusive hotels, but also with the countless experiences it offers to enjoy, from diving in transparent waters full of underwater life, to playing in the best golf courses in the Caribbean with incredible views, crossing Hanging bridges and canyoning in the numerous theme parks or enjoy excellent cuisine ... all that is possible. An unforgettable family excursion is to explore the Indigenous Eyes Ecological Reserve: 600 hectares of forest preserved with twelve lagoons of crystalline water, in three of which you can swim.

Bayahibe: a romantic destination to discover as a couple
Bayahibe, east of La Romana, is a dream place to enjoy and celebrate love. The fishing village retains its authentic Dominican flavor, with streets with a lot of history and architecture, local restaurants and bars, craft stalls in the street and fishermen who bring the catch of the day. After a day at the beach, the expected moment: contemplate one of the most beautiful sunsets in the country. From the town of Bayahibe, there are also excursions to Isla Saona, a true tropical paradise where extensive white-sand beaches lined with tall coconut trees seem to melt into turquoise waters. Sailing along the stunning landscape of Saona is a romantic plan that will be unforgettable.
