Marriott Hotels, the flagship brand of Marriott International, today inaugurated the long-awaited Santa Marta Marriott Resort Playa Dormida, a 168-room venue that offers a brilliant new destination experience for business travelers and families alike.

Located just five minutes from the local airport, the new property has simple, yet dramatic architectural features, combined with an unusual use of materials and a refined mix of depth, dimension and intimacy. Each room and suite is designed for today's traveler reflecting the location in a sophisticated and unique way.

Guests can find a space to relax in one of the 140 rooms with partial ocean views or be inspired by one of the 28 suites with stunning oceanfront views. Each room has luxurious mattresses, complimentary wifi and LCD televisions. Additional amenities include the Seishua Spa, designed to meet the needs of the mind, body and soul through refreshing experiences, including in-suite massages, as well as a gym and outdoor pool.

The Santa Marta Marriott Resort Playa Dormida exhibits two restaurants designed for bright dining experiences, offering international cuisine at 1525 Bistro and Latin American favorite dishes in Cayeye. Guests are invited to restore and balance while enjoying a tropical sanctuary and privileged access to the beach.

"We are delighted to open the new Santa Marta Marriott Resort Playa Dormida, where our main objective is to create enriching experiences for our guests, in sophisticated spaces, inspired by the green essence of the Samario landscape," said Jorge Sánchez, General Manager. "Our high design and the use of native resources and ancestral textures will undoubtedly generate new ways of thinking when traveling to Santa Marta."

Located on the Colombian Caribbean coast, one of the main attractions of Santa Marta is the Tayrona Park, recognized as one of the most important protected areas in the country. Known for its lush fauna and flora, it offers pristine beaches, coastal lagoons and the rainforest, perfect for hiking and water sports. 15 minutes from the city center, guests will find Taganga, a fishing village traditionally known for its coral reefs and remarkable dive sites.
