Brazil and Slovakia seek to expand tourist flow between countries

The Economic and Commercial advisor of the Slovakian Embassy in Brazil, Lucia Langer, was at Embratur (Brazilian Tourism Institute) on Wednesday (13) and met with the president and the local councilor, Gilson Machado Neto and Rafael Luisi, respectively. According to her, the number of Slovaks coming to Brazil has increased, but is still low, reaching 2,500 per year.

The president of Embratur highlighted the importance of promoting Ecotourism and Adventure Tourism destinations, “the segment that Brazil dominates and is the fastest growing in the world”. "According to the World Tourism Organization, the segment grows between 15% and 25% each year," said Gilson Machado Neto.

'' European tourists have been focusing on the Ecotourism and Adventure Tourism segment, and Brazil has all the conditions to increase its offer to this market, ”said the president of Embratur. Worldwide, 10% of tourists are looking for this type of attraction and, in Brazil, the data reveal this trend: among leisure tourists who visited the country in 2018, 16% sought Ecotourism, behind only Sun and Beach. In addition, Brazil is considered by the World Economic Forum to be the country with the greatest tourism potential in natural resources, as it has the largest biodiversity of species in the world, spread over six biomes and three large marine ecosystems.

Lucia Langer pointed out that Slovak tourists have the desire to know Brazil through its attractions of the segment. “The interesting thing for them would be more the Amazon than the Brazilian beaches. Another highlight is fishing tourism, which also catches the attention of these travelers, ”suggested the adviser. She also reported that Slovakia has a population of 5 million, and receives about 5.5 million international tourists a year.
