Deliberative Council starts the new Embratur

First meeting of the Agency's deliberative body approves its Statute and administrative matters

The first meeting of the Embratur Deliberative Council, held on Thursday (19), was marked by the approval of the new statute of the Brazilian Agency for International Tourism Promotion. The Minister of Tourism and Chairman of the Deliberative Council, Marcelo Álvaro Antônio, opened the meeting, as well as participated in the descriptive reading of the document. According to him, this is a historic moment for Brazilian tourism.

“With the new Agency, Brazil is consolidating itself and is in fact competing for the intensive search for international tourists. This is an old dream that, with the confidence of President Jair Bolsonaro, will put our country in the international dispute and tourism competitiveness for the spread of Brazil abroad, ”said the minister.

The CEO and Executive Secretary of Embratur Deliberative Council, Gilson Machado Neto, also stressed the importance of transformation. “We are here today, making history in Brazilian tourism. I also want to thank the trust of President Jair Bolsonaro and the Council members, key partners for the approval of the new Brazilian tourism promotion model. Tourism generates jobs, income and foreign exchange for the country, ”said Gilson at the meeting.

During the meeting, the president of the Brazilian Hotel Industry Association (ABIH), Manoel Linhares, was voted to assume the position of vice-president of the Embratur Deliberative Council. In addition, the Agency's technical team introduced the new bylaws and placed the document for voting by members. They also approved the bidding and contract manual; the budget for 2020, which will be almost $ 650 million; Embratur organization chart; job, career and salary plan; assignment of servers; contracts and normative instruction 01/2019, which deals with labor rights and advantages of the new Embratur.

The board is composed of representatives of Embratur; the Ministries of Tourism, Foreign Affairs, Economy, Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications, and the Environment; the Brazilian Hotel Industry Association (ABIH); National Council of Municipalities (CNM); CLIA Opens Brazil and Brazilian Association of Tour Operators (BRAZTOA).
