The Ministry of Tourism (MITUR) expressed satisfaction with the announcement made by the Colombian airline Avianca that it will double the frequency of flights from Colombia to the Dominican Republic.
This was expressed by the Vice Minister of Tourism, Fausto Fernández, who received the visit of the executives of the South American airline for Central America and the Caribbean, Felipe Gutiérrez, Viviana Martín and David Alemán, with whom he discussed the plans to expand new routes, from part of the company as of this year 2020.
Avianca announced that as of March 29 it will increase the frequency of its flights from Bogotá to Santo Domingo from 7 to 14.
For Vice Minister Fernández, “Avianca's initiative to increase its flights to the Dominican Republic, the leading tourist destination of the Caribbean and especially to Santo Domingo, is of great satisfaction, thus contributing to strengthening the flow of visitors between the two countries, Colombia being the fourth issuing country of tourists from South America ”.
It was reported that the company will be using Airbus A 319 aircraft and an Airbus A320 with a capacity of between 153 and 156 seats for those routes.
The initiative of Avianca, Colombia's main airline, and which celebrates its hundred years of operation, comes as part of its plans to strengthen and expand its routes to the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America from 2020.
