LATAM Airlines and Delta announce new frequent flyer agreement

LATAM Pass members may accumulate and redeem their miles on all Delta flights. Similarly, Delta SkyMiles members can use their miles in the LATAM network of 145 destinations in 26 countries and five continents

LATAM Airlines Group announced that it signed an agreement with Delta that will allow reciprocal frequent flyer benefits, effective April 1, 2020.

Once the agreement is implemented, LATAM Pass members will be able to accumulate and redeem * their miles on all Delta flights in their network of more than 300 destinations worldwide. Similarly, Delta SkyMiles members will be able to use their miles in the LATAM network of 145 destinations in 26 countries and five continents. Also, operators are working to expand the benefits of reciprocal access to VIP lounges to more airports in America, in addition to establishing higher-level recognition in their frequent flyer programs during the first half of 2020.

"With this frequent flyer agreement and codeshare, LATAM and its subsidiaries can now offer customers the first tangible benefits that the Delta deal promises to bring," said Roberto Alvo, Commercial Vice President of LATAM Airlines Group. "Today, customers can already take advantage of the leading connectivity between North and South America, as we move forward in creating the best travel experience and network of destinations on the continent."

Another milestone that also starts is that LATAM customers can buy tickets for flights under codeshares between Delta and LATAM Airlines Peru (for flights operating since March 29, 2020) and LATAM Airlines Ecuador (for flights operating from on March 15, 2020) respectively, offering up to 74 routes in the United States and Canada. Delta passengers can also buy flights considered under codes shared with LATAM subsidiaries in Peru, Ecuador and Colombia, offering up to 51 routes in South America.

New code shared between LATAM Airlines Brasil and Delta:
LATAM Airlines Brasil also signed a code-share agreement with Delta that will enter into force during the first half of 2020 subject to regulatory approval. The “LA” code of LATAM Airlines Brasil will be incorporated into Delta flights departing from New York / JFK, Miami, Boston and Orlando to up to 65 routes in the United States and Canada. Likewise, Delta's "DL" code will be added to LATAM Airlines Brasil flights that take off from São Paulo / GRU and Rio de Janeiro / GIG ​​to up to 37 routes within Brazil.

These changes are part of the ongoing work to implement the agreement announced by LATAM and Delta in September 2019, which includes a proposal for a strategic alliance to combine their highly complementary destination networks, providing customers with a seamless travel experience and connectivity. America's leader with more than 435 destinations worldwide, subject to government and regulatory approvals.
