New flight to Puerto Plata from Zurich, Switzerland with Edelweiss

Starting next winter 2020-21 the number of weekly flights from Zuiza to the Dominican Republic increases from 3 to 4

The Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, Francisco Javier García, and the CEO of Edelweiss, Bernd Bauer, signed an agreement for a new Zurich-Puerto Plata flight, which was carried out in Kloten, Switzerland and Santo Domingo.

Starting next winter 2020-21, the number of weekly flights from Zurich to the Dominican Republic increases from three to four, starting on November 3, it will take place on Tuesdays in the A340, direct to Puerto Plata, on the north coast of Caribbean country.

This aircraft has 314 seats, 27 of which are Business Class, 76 Economy Max and 211 Economy. The connection completes the three existing weekly frequencies from Zurich to Punta Cana. This is good news for Swiss traveling to the Dominican Republic on vacation.

Petra Cruz, director Europe and the Office of Tourism Promotion (OPT) Germany, stated that “Switzerland is an important market for us, so with this additional flight to Puerto Plata, the Swiss will have direct access to another great region of Dominican Republic. We hope that the increase in airline seats will lead to an increase in the number of arrivals ”.

Cruz indicated that the province of Puerto Plata, on the north coast, is the cradle of tourism in the Dominican Republic and continues to be one of the most popular regions for visitors due to the great and varied tourist offer it has, while indicating that Cabarete is considered one of the best places in the world to practice kitesurfing and windsurfing.
