Iberostar makes donations to fight Covid-19

The hotel group has donated food, protective material and space on its properties

Since the beginning of the health crisis, the Iberostar Group has joined in solidarity initiatives to alleviate the most serious needs of the pandemic caused by COVID-19. In permanent contact with health administrations, institutions and social organizations, the hotel chain donated food and protection material. The initiatives have been diverse but unanimous: from all the hotels, temporarily closed on a global scale, the teams prepared and distributed the material from their warehouses that could alleviate the situation in the communities where they operate.

Specifically, hotels in Europe and North Africa donated food and textiles such as sheets and towels, as well as 88,000 pairs of gloves, 28,000 chinstraps, 20,000 hats and 800 liters of gel alcohol, among other protection and cleaning products. The material was sent, following instructions from the authorities, to hospitals in Tunisia (Midou Hospital and Sadok Mokaddem Hospital), Mallorca (Son Llàtzer Hospital), Marbella, (Costa del Sol Hospital) and Lisbon (Curry Cabral Hospital), among others, and to numerous organizations and institutions. In addition to donations, the Iberostar Club Palmeraie Marrakech hotel in Morocco provided rooms to accommodate doctors and health personnel.

In the case of hotels located in the Americas, donations focused on the delivery of food to vulnerable communities, such as the 400 children from the Dominican Republic attended from the Segunda Milla school in Bávaro. Donations were also made through the Specialized Tourist Security Corps - CESTUR of the Dominican Republic, the City of Bayahíbe, the Food Bank of Mexico, the Ministry of Public Health of Jamaica and the Social Assistance Abrigo Moacyr Alves of Brazil. In parallel, the dining rooms and towns of the Iberostar Group-owned resorts remain open and provide all services to the company workers who reside in them.

In the midst of this context, Grupo Iberostar is determined to resume its activity as soon as possible, but as its CEO, Sabina Fluxá has indicated: “nothing represents a higher priority than what affects human health and our first Thought is directed at those who are suffering from this disease. The first thing is the well-being and security of each one: it is time to take care of ourselves, take care of our own and act responsibly at the individual level and as a company ”.
