COPA CEO denies transcendence on request for funds

Regarding the information that has circulated in recent days on social networks and some national media, Copa Airlines clarifies that it is false that it has requested $ 700 million or any monetary aid to the Government of the Republic of Panama, to safeguard its sustainability.
The Airline regrets that in times when the world is experiencing the worst crisis of our generation, false news is spread that only seeks to affect the reputation of the main airline industry company in Panama, which contributes 14% of the Gross Domestic Product of the country and about 240 thousand jobs.
Copa Airlines is taking all necessary measures to enable it to cope with this serious crisis with its own means, seeking to protect as many jobs as possible, and ensuring that Panama can continue to have a Hub of the Americas, leader in the region and one of the main engines of the country's economy.
