Yucatan and Quintana Roo reinforce sanitary certification

The current crisis, consequence of the pandemic by Covid-19 in Mexico, has forced the different destinations and their representatives, in addition to being creative in the strategies for the revival of tourism, to seek alliances and generate new and better initiatives for the sector. tourist of each destination in the country.
The secretaries of tourism of Yucatan, Quintana Roo and Campeche, from before the current contingency, were in a joint effort to promote the Peninsula as the same destination. Derived from the fact that world travelers do not distinguish political or geopolitical divisions, generating a strategy and projecting the Yucatan Peninsula as a single tourist offer to the foreign market.
This joint work had its beginnings at FITUR in Madrid last year and from that time to date different actions have been carried out in favor of these destinations, but the current situation has led Quintana Roo and Yucatan to strengthen this alliance on issues of international health security.
It should be remembered that just a week ago, the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) granted Yucatan the Travel Safety Stamp for the adoption of new protocols to protect health. of travelers, while previous days Quintana Roo received this same guarantee, thus reinforcing the union of the states of the Mexican southeast for tourist attraction and economic reactivation.
Therefore, it is that in a coordinated manner, the technical teams of the Ministry of Tourism Promotion (Sefotur) of Yucatan and the Ministry of Tourism (Sedetur) of Quintana Roo, led by Michelle Fridman and Marisol Vanegas respectively, analyzed the methodologies of the Certificate of Good Sanitary Practices of Yucatan and of the Certification in Sanitary Protection and Prevention in Tourist Facilities of Quintana Roo, agreeing to standardize the criteria, establishing the commitment to combine actions for the strengthening of both certificates, having as main opportunities the technological exchange, the joint development of training and constant evaluation for the benefit of tourism service providers.
Both destinations will unify their protocols to those established by the WTTC, being approved by the Secure Travel Seal, forming part of the 12 destinations in the world that have been certified with this seal.
During these work meetings, more than 300 application criteria of all the tourist tours were reviewed, with a coincidence of more than 85% of the evaluation items.
For her part, Michelle Fridman of Sefotur Yucatan commented - for travelers the different types of certifications from both States are of great importance, as well as the standards we offer, since tourists do not plan a trip taking into account the geopolitical divisions between them. , but the region, and that is why the concept of the "Yucatan Peninsula" was created, so that without removing the individuality of each State we can generate promotion strategies, connectivity, training and, of course, now, of approved health certifications, in order to provide experiences similar in both destinations.
While Marisol Vanegas from Sedetur Quintana Roo, stressed -it is vitally important to work together to obtain better results, in addition to complementing health protocols with the neighboring state of Yucatan, we share the international recognition of the WTTC, in order to increase the safety and confidence of the traveler, as well as the certainty of tourist companies that already have the protocol of protection and health prevention. With the immediate response of the sector, we are consolidating the region as a favorite destination worldwide.
To formalize these agreements, both destinations will sign a collaboration agreement based on four axes:

Development and integration of tourism products based on the natural and cultural wealth that each of the entities have.
-Generate joint efforts for tourism promotion.
-To promote the development and technological exchange that allow updating the certificates of good tourist sanitary practices and being at the forefront with the protocol changes that the Ministry of Health may provide.
-To promote training, certification and professionalization programs for the entire value chain in both states.

This sanitary certification homologation will benefit, in addition to attracting tourists to the region as they are considered safe destinations for the traveler, to tourism service providers that by their nature require operating in both states, as they will have the recognition of sanitary certificates tourist of Quintana Roo and Yucatan, just by obtaining one of the certifications that these entities offer.
 
These agreements have the ultimate goal of ensuring the integration of sanitary measures in tourism companies, protecting the health and well-being of the population that lives in both States, of clients and collaborators, seeking a high sense of sustainability and social responsibility.
