This aircraft will start commercial operation in August and joins the Mexican airline's fleet
Viva Aerobus, the ultra low cost airline in Mexico, received today at 17:00 in Terminal C of the Monterrey International Airport, its first Airbus A321neo model aircraft. On the morning of June 26, in the city of Hamburg, Germany, Airbus gave the airline this aircraft with registration XA-VBA, which started its flight for our country today at dawn (02:00 am - Central time) from Mexico) for their arrival this afternoon, after having stopped in the cities of Keflavík, Iceland and Bangor, United States. This is the first delivery of a new aircraft in all of Latin America since the start of the global pandemic due to COVID-19.
“With the arrival of this new Airbus A321neo ACF version with a capacity of 240 passengers, it allows us to continue preparing ourselves for the gradual recovery of passenger demand. The cutting edge technology of this aircraft provides safety, reliability and high efficiency due to its low fuel consumption. This allows us to reduce costs for the direct benefit of our passengers, since we can continue offering low prices that are key to boosting tourism and the air sector in the current context, ”said Juan Carlos Zuazua, General Director of Viva Aerobus.
The Airbus A321neo is a highly eco-efficient aircraft, generating benefits in both operating and environmental costs. Thanks to its engine capacity, aerodynamic advances, capacity for 240 passengers and innovations in the cabin it offers a reduction in fuel consumption of 20%.
The Airbus A321 will remain at the Viva Aerobus base in Monterrey to carry out the final operational tests and certification before the Mexican aeronautical authority in order to carry out its inaugural commercial flight in early August.
This new aircraft is the second of 5 aircraft that the airline plans to receive in 2020: 3 A321neo and 2 A320neo. These aircraft belong to the order of A320 and A321 aircraft that VivaAerobus has with the European manufacturer.
