Puerto Plata receives first flight after reopening

At the typical merengue rate, the first passengers who arrived at General Gregorio Luperón International Airport on the Jet Blue airline flight from New York City were received

67 Dominicans and 48 non-resident foreigners arrived on the flight, for a total of 115 passengers.

Upon arrival, the Folkloric Ballet of the Ministry of Tourism (MITUR) welcomed the passengers and crew, who arrived at the air terminal under strict compliance with the health protocol established by the Dominican and international authorities.

Jakaira Cid, Regional Director of MITUR, stated that this is the beginning of the reopening of air transport to the province, while activating tourism in the destination, which, as the slogan says, "Puerto Plata has it all."

The tourism and commercial flights industry resumed operations on July 1, 2020, after being suspended for more than three months by closing the borders due to the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), which affects the world.
