FCCA recognizes the Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic

Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association has recognized Francisco Javier García for the support throughout his tenure

Michelle M. Paige, president of the FCCA, in a communication sent to Minister Garcia, states that this association is honored to have had an ally concerned about the industry and its development.

"Good partners like you can be difficult to find, so the FCCA appreciates your partnership and support of this organization and the cruise industry," said Paige.

She stated that the willingness to collaborate and hold the necessary discussions while implementing the correct actions for the cruise industry was one of the constant strength and virtue of the Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic.

"It is certainly bittersweet to hear the news about his departure, knowing that we will lose his constant and careful consideration of all circumstances and his willingness to collaborate, but also with the confidence that he will surely advance strongly in his efforts," emphasized the president of the FCCA .

Michelle Paige and the members of the FCCA will send, in the coming days, Minister Francisco Javier García a plaque of recognition for his unconditional contributions to the Caribbean cruise industry and for his commitment to the development of this activity in the Dominican Republic.

Last year the Dominican Republic received 513 hits from cruise ships, for a total of 1,500,537 visitors, of which 1,116,172 were passengers and 384,365 crew members, impressively activating the economy in the communities where each port is located.

Puerto Plata being the tourist destination that received the largest number of cruise passengers with the arrival of 875,059 visitors, followed by La Romana with 448,584, Santo Domingo with 77,851, Samaná with 70,494 and Cap Cana with 28,549.

It should be noted that the cruise industry in the Dominican Republic has grown dramatically in recent years, from 423,584 passengers in 2011 to 1,116,172 in 2019.
