New Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic makes first changes

David Collado took office yesterday and minutes later made his first appointments in departments of that institution. The official arrived at the headquarters of the company accompanied by several of his closest collaborators

The transition took place in a relaxed and cooperative atmosphere. Shortly after, Collado announced the appointment of Kai Schoenhals as director of the Tourism Development Council (Confotur), and Shaney Peña as director of the Planning and Projects Directorate.

Similarly, he informed that Amín Abel will be coordinator of the Executing Unit of the Colonial City Comprehensive Program of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). Likewise, the Minister of Tourism held a planning meeting for the Executive Committee of Infrastructure in Tourist Zones (Ceiztur), together with the new director, Sixto Brea, and the representative of the United Nations Development Program in the Dominican Republic (UNDP) , Inka Mattila.

He reported that UNDP will accompany the bidding and contracting process carried out by Tourism.

Since President Luis Abinader announced his appointment at the Ministry of Tourism, Collado, in collaboration with outgoing Minister Francisco Javier García, began a broad work agenda that included meetings with important players in the sector, who will play a leading role in the relaunch of the sector.

He also held meetings with businessmen and hotel chain owners in the United States and Spain.

Collado was president of the Tourism Commission of the Chamber of Deputies and mayor of the National District.
