Virtual tourism fair will promote Panama as a world-class tourist destination

The event will bring tourism service providers from the capital and the interior of the country closer to international buyers from the United States, Latin America and Europe

From September 25 to 27, the First Virtual Tourism Fair "Experience Panama Expo" will take place, an international event to show Panama as a world-class tourist destination, highlighting the sustainable tourism offer, with a sector prepared to participate in economic recovery.

The current crisis requires us to reinvent ourselves and innovate to adjust to the new times, and we are ready to accept the challenge ”.
Organized by the Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama (CCIAP) in a strategic alliance with the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP), PROMTUR Panama, the National Chamber of Tourism of Panama (CAMTUR) and the Panamanian Association of Hotels (APATEL ), this unprecedented virtual fair will generate a space for the exchange of business, knowledge and strategies between some 200 local tourism service providers and approximately 600 international professional visitors, focused on the holiday tourism segment and wholesalers in the business meetings and events segment from countries such as the United States, Portugal, Spain, Germany, the United Kingdom and the Latin American region.
"From PROMTUR Panama we want to promote the different tourism activities and products in the country and generate links between potential international buyers and the different actors that support the tourism industry day by day," said Fernando Duque, president of the Board of Directors of PROMTUR Panama. " We want to make the most of this virtual fair to generate a positive impact on tourism, from reserving discounted rates to travel when allowed, to planning important events and conventions in our country, because we have the infrastructure. "
The virtual activity will have ten categories: destination marketing, organization company (DMC), tourism operators, travel agencies, airlines, hotels and resorts, professional organizers of events, congresses and conventions, car rental companies, local tourism authorities and unions business in the tourism sector of Panama. In addition, the bidders will have their digital space to receive visitors, as well as attend scheduled meetings and those that take place on the fly through a microsite.
"This first Virtual Fair gives us the opportunity to go little by little reactivating the tourism sector. Working together as a sector, developing alliances with wholesalers, operators and buyers from the different destinations that Panama can offer. Our objective must be to continue positioning ourselves as a reliable and safe country, ”said Ernesto Orillac Quijano, president of the National Chamber of Tourism of Panama.
The "networking" platform, designed for wholesalers and event organizers to learn about Panama's offer, expects to bring together 250 local tourism providers. The Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama will be receiving applications on the site www.panacamara.com/experiencepanamaexpo/ to occupy the virtual spaces starting today, August 13 of this year.
The meeting will also serve as a training and updating exercise for the participants, with models of good practices in the sector that will be duly certified according to biosafety and sustainability regulations.
As experts in the organization of fairs and union leaders of the national private company, the CCIAP fosters the generation of professional and business exchange for the reactivation of tourist demand and the national economy. "We seek to make available to the sector, knowledge and contacts with international wholesalers so that they can learn about the Panamanian offer and that it is ready to work on its reactivation once the opening of the entry of international passengers occurs. ”, Expressed Jean Pierre Leignadier, president of CCIAP.
Additionally, during the Experience Panama Expo fair, the Summit of Tourism Ministers of Central America and the Dominican Republic will be held, with the main theme: "Natural and Cultural Heritage: the key to promoting sustainable tourism and economic development in the region."
Among the objectives of the fair are to boost one of the main economic sectors of the country, attracting tourists, so that it permeates the entire value chain, from airlines and hotels, to artisans and shopping centers.
