Mexico City obtains the WTTC Safe Travel Seal

Mexico City joined the list of destinations that obtain the Safe Travels Stamp granted by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC, for its acronym in English) and that will help regain the confidence of the Travellers.
 
“The capital of Mexico is a great travel destination on a global level, it is the cradle of the Aztec civilization and at the same time one of the most important financial and cultural centers in Latin America; its different tourist attractions, its museums, its cultural life and its gastronomy, enjoy the recognition and preference of leisure and business tourists, ”said Gloria Guevara Manzo, President and CEO of the WTTC.
 
"The WTTC believes that it is time to join forces between government authorities and representatives of the private sector, to make a common front that allows tourism to promote the new normal. It is important to act, at all times, with the greatest responsibility and together to promote the development of the sector ”, she indicated.
 
For her part, the head of the Mexico City Mixed Tourism Promotion Fund, Paola Félix Díaz, recognized the effort to reactivate WTTC tourism, through the international initiative to promote and implement the protocol for the tourism industry. travels and tourism.
 
“After a careful study of the hygiene conditions that currently prevail in our city, this seal will generate confidence among national and foreign travelers that they will find a safe tourist destination. The seal will undoubtedly allow a speedy recovery of the levels of this activity, which has been one of the hardest hit by the crisis caused by COVID-19, ”he said.
 
Félix Díaz highlighted the important work of the World Travel and Tourism Council for the great support provided for the recovery of one of the main economic, social and cultural activities in the entire world.
 
Mexico City has among its many attractions five sites considered World Heritage Sites (the Historic Center, University City, the Luis Barragán Study Museum, Xochimilco and the Camino Real Tierra Adentro); Its 217 museums include the Palace of Fine Arts, the National Museum of Art, the Castle of Chapultepec and the University Museum of Contemporary Art.
 
It is important to note that, once the local authorities, in coordination with the health sector, determine the opening of the tourist destination, it is the responsibility of the government that receives the Safe Travel Seal, to supervise strict compliance with hygiene and sanitation protocols for health care for visitors. The WTTC reserves the decision to withdraw the seal in the event of any breach of the protocols.
 
The WTTC protocols were designed following the guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and have the support of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
 
Additionally, the Safe Travels Stamp has the support of more than 200 CEOs from the main business groups in the travel and tourism sector around the world.
